Ross & Lindsey || San Francisco Engagement

San Francisco Engagement Session

Oh these two. Let me tell you about these two. When Lindsey, Ross and I had met about their wedding around a year or so ago, I had causally mentioned how we love to travel…especially to shoot in new locations. Sure, I knew the wedding would be in Columbus and that they grew up in Ross County…but I also knew that they now live in San Francisco…you know, one of those bucket list cities for me. I always love photographing couples (or families or seniors) in areas that mean something to them. Not only is it a great time to really capture that time of your life, but the photos might mean that much more if you can shoot in areas that you often go, or love or have memories from.

You can imagine how excited I was when we started to seriously talk about Justin and I flying out to photograph them where they live. We planned to make it a couple day event…that way we could be shooting in the best light, but also hit several locations too…I mean, it’s not every weekend you have a photographer following you around, you better make the most of it! Not only did they take us to the most spectacular areas to photograph, but we really had the best time! Saw amazing spots, ate amazing food and spent the whole weekend with an amazing couple. We honestly still talk about it often and how excited we are to head back one day.

Ross and Lindsey, thank you for everything…especially for making us fall in love with San Francisco…how’s about an anniversary shoot?! ;)

These two get married TOMORROW, so today seemed like the perfect day to share our time in California!

We started the evening we flew in (after an incredible tour of Alcatraz) and headed downtown to City Hall! They were closing in 10 mins…so we had the place to ourselves :) Our other shoot locations included the Presidio (one of my new favorite places of all time), a look out spot for the Golden Gate Bridge, their too cute home, Crissy Field, the Palace of Fine Arts & Baker Beach. It was an epic weekend and writing up this post has me looking at flights. I hope you enjoy the pictures even a 1/3 as much as I enjoyed this trip!

Trent & Katie | two years married

There’s a type of shoot that isn’t all that common but should be. Well, should be in the sense that I LOVE to photograph it ;) An anniversary shoot! Of course, the wedding and engagement shoots are an obvious thing to document…but 1, 2, 3 years in…I mean, how sweet?! You don’t have to have kids to document who you are as a family. I wish Justin and I had more photos from the time “before kids.”

Trent emailed me a while back and asked if I’d be interested in heading to their town to photograph a session as a gift to Katie for their anniversary.  Not only did he want that to be her gift to her, he specifically wanted to document them in their home and current season of life…where they like to go and the area where they live now. If you know me…you’d know I’d be all over that! I love when couples want to personalize shoots to really have a record of how life is this moment in their lives.

Of course, we lucked out with it being as hot as possible ;) You all know how much I love heat…but they totally rocked it regardless. I swear my clients have super powers…I can assure you, I don’t resemble anything that would be “camera ready” during those hot shoots! It blows my mind every warm session how girls still have perfect hair and makeup by the end, haha!!

Justin and I headed to Covington, Kentucky (super cute town across the river from Cincinnati) for the session…here’s a little look at…well, some of it. You all know I have no control, so there is so much more ;)

A quick note on this one…this building is scheduled to be demolished…I’m so happy they wanted to include it.  I mean, what an amazing piece of art! Love that they have this to remember such a neat part of downtown before it’s gone.

I hope that made everyone want to schedule 1, 4, 7…”whatever” year anniversary shoot…and you know who to call ;)

Guys, it’s just a really fantastic present. I promise.

Katie & Steve || Via Vecchia Winery

I think it’s about time that I start sharing all of these beautiful weddings we have the honor of documenting!! I have some back-logged to go back and share, but I thought I’d start with the “season” this year, rather than showing you a nice winter wedding on this hot July day ;)

Katie & Steve were married this May in Columbus, and the entire day was classic & beautiful. We started with a first look on the rooftop in the middle of the city and then managed to sneak into The Ohio State University stadium for a few photos…which was perfect, since Katie is a former OSU cheerleader! Although the threat of rain moved the ceremony indoors, it didn’t disrupt our photos at all and I think the ceremony was absolutely stunning inside! Both the wedding and reception took place at Via Vecchia Winery, which we love…the style, ambience, location & people! We’ve had a handful of weddings there and really go above and beyond! Oh, and that band…gotta be one of my favorites of all time…they knew how to party and I would recommend them to anyone searching for a great band!!

Here’s a look at their perfect day!! wedding Renaissance hotel columbus ohio

Strickland Family | Ohio Family Photography

Hmm…brrr. It’s basically awful (but beautiful) weather lately, so I thought I’d share a nice fall family shoot. You know, to rub in the non-warmth we have. This is one of my favorite families around & it’s been a while since we did a shoot, so I was so excited when they set it up.  I’ve got a handful of my favorites to share :) Enjoy! chillicothe family photographer chillicothe family photographer  chillicothe family photographerchillicothe family photographerchillicothe ohio photographer  chillicothe family photographerchillicothe family photographer chillicothe family photographerStay warm out there folks…well, if it’s cold where you are…you know what I mean.

I think the cold is messing with my mind. ;)

2015 Senior Team Member : Amanda // Chillicothe High School Senior

These seniors I tell you, they impress me everyday. I’ve got a big write up about why I love photographing seniors so much coming up soon…but for now, let me just say…these “kids”, they are amazing. Amanda is nothing short of that. She’s as smart & sweet as she is gorgeous! I am thrilled that she is part of my Senior Team this year…and I can’t wait to show off the images from our first shoot (yes, I said first ;). I’ll give you a hint, her hair in that shoot – one of my favorite parts of the entire thing!

We met up one fall afternoon/evening and just walked around town & a close by “country” location and looked for great light & chatted. That’s about the extent of my shoots…we have a blast. Low key and relaxed. I love learning about them and hearing of the exciting plans they have coming up soon. What an amazing time of their lives, I am just honored to have the tiniest part in their senior year. Here’s a handful of my favorite images from our shoot!
