Sweet little Beckham. Oh, where do I start? As you can tell, this was one of the babies in my “two weeks of newborns” (I didn’t plan that, just happened), and by the time I met Beckham I was already telling Justin that Hallie needs a sibling…stat. Just kidding…well, sort of.

Little Beckham will always hold a soft spot in my heart. He was the first baby to actually fall asleep on a newborn shoot for me in years…yes, years. It actually happened!! (to prove it wasn’t me, the next newborn to be blogged also fell asleep for me…I am on a roll :) It was nearly impossible for me to narrow these down to blog, so consider yourself lucky, I could have put the entire session up. Bonus…you’ll be seeing much more of him. Beckham is one of the babies this year part of our “Baby Plan”, so he has another 4 more shoots already planned with me this year (insert yay me here!).

Meet Charlie Books…or Brooks, as his friends call him. Not only is he as cute & relaxed as they come…but he’s got some pretty amazing parents too. Not too bad for being a baby. I was so excited to meet him and can’t wait to watch this little guy grow up with my little girl. They are going to be buddies for sure. Enjoy!

Oh, hey there cutie!

Believe it or not, I’ve got more newborn sessions coming! I wasn’t kidding when I said I’ve photographed lots of babies in the past 2 months ;)

These two ladies mean more to me than I could ever express on this blog. I could try to recap all of their posts over the years, but that would take far too long…and I am really excited about these photos, so I want to get right to them.

Sophie turned 7 this year and we wanted to do her shoot up right :) I photograph these girls 2 times a year (for each of their birthdays), so we wanted this shoot to be a little different than anything we’ve done before…actually, different than anything I’ve done before. Inspired by pinterest, we decided to set up a little backdrop, and then we even convinced Laynie to join (because she was not interested in it at first). I am so in love with these, but even more so…so in love with these girls. Enjoy!!

Next little guy up…Baby Lance! Lance was one of the most even tempered, chill babies I’ve ever photographed. I didn’t hear a peep from him during the entire session…and don’t let the photos fool you…we didn’t get any sleeping from him, but I did manage to catch a few closed eyes. Out of all of the babies I’ve photographed, only 2 have ever gone to sleep…I have an effect on them…and those 2 were just last week!

You may remember this little turtle I posted a while back…well, that was Lance…and he was also the cutest little fox during out shoot too :)

My favorite newborn shots are the ones with the baby wrapped up in Dad’s hands…I am a sucker for it every time!

I’m back!! I suppose I forgot to announce I was leaving in the first place, but I’ve been in Vegas! Last week was the annual WPPI (wedding & portrait photographers international) in Las Vegas, and while I don’t go every year…I do go every other year…and it was time! You may remember me mentioning it 2 years ago because I attended the cutest workshop there ever was :)

I had such a great time and learned so much not only from the classes I attended, but from my amazing roommates. I am so excited to start putting some new plans into action…lots of fun & exciting things coming your way! I will actually be announcing one of those changes later this week! Until then, I thought I’d pop on and share one of my cute seniors from last fall. Meet Alyssa. She was so much fun to photograph and brought along the best outfits…and friends…have I mentioned how much I love it when friends come along…cause I do!! I’ll be posting the sessions of the 2 boys in the last photo soon…so keep checking back for those!

I considered blogging a nice snowy shoot, or wedding today…but since I am so ready for spring, I thought I’d do the opposite. Megan’s senior shoot was incredibly warm…scratch that, it was just hot, no other way to spin it.  But in true ‘Cassidy Dawn Senior’ style, she rocked it. She didn’t even have your typical shoot either. See, Megan is an amazing athlete…so her shoot was a bit of a work out as well. I mean, we had to show off some of those skills! She loves Volleyball…and if you live around here, you would know she’s something of a track star (ahem, she’s kind of a big deal). Congrats on signing with Penn State…you are going to do amazing things with their program!

Oh, and I made her run too…just realized I didn’t prep any of those. If I remember correctly, the medals above are from just 2 years of high school…she didn’t even bring everything, and had another season to go after this shoot…told you she rocks!

I’m convinced we will be seeing her in the Olympics one day!

And after all of that…she can still rock a gorgeous dress in 90 degree weather.

I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again…nothing makes me happier as a photographer than being asked back time & time again to continue to document important moments in your life. I’ve been photographing the Sikora family since Annie, the oldest, was just a few months old. They have had me come to their home in Albuquerque, New Mexico, then San Antonio, Texas…and now a little closer to home…Dayton! They are an Air Force family, so I have been fortunate enough to come along in their adventures and see places I had never visited before…so grateful for them!

The kids all have birthdays in Febuary, so this shoot was to focus on each of them. I had so much fun following them around the house and letting them show me some of their favorite things. What a perfect morning :)

I typically love (and still do) shooting in a great park, or other location…but there was something super special about photographing the kids in their rooms and playing around the house. Loved it!

There is really very little point even trying to describe how much I loved this session…so I wont bother trying…I think you’ll get it when you see the photos. Basically – a model couple, perfect light, autumn…you get the idea. It was a pretty great shoot :)

Katie & Jordan are both in the Air Force and we actually did their engagement pictures 2 days before their wedding! I’m so thankful for their service to our country and for choosing me as their photographer! Such an honor. Take a look through a few of my favorites!!

I this blog to be how it used to be, you know, showing shoots soon after they happen…rather than 6 months or a year later ;) So, that’s what we are going to do! I’ll fill in between recent shoots with older ones. New shoots will be a little slower right now, as most people don’t want to shoot in 30 degree weather…however, I promise, it can be worth it if you do ;)

I met up with Tylar & his mom just last week for his shoot…it was cold, but he was great about it…and it paid off! I know he was hoping for a more snowy shoot, so I was so excited to end the session with the last shot below…not a ton, but it’s there! Here are a few of my favorites!

Love, love, love this shot :) I didn’t have lighting with me (because I primarily shoot outside), so we got lucky that there was just one light on in the locker room…love how it came out!

Happy Valentine’s Day!! I must admit, I never thought much of the “holiday”. I mean, I didn’t mind it, just wasn’t a big deal before. Things have changed this year for sure! I have had the absolute best time spoiling my hubby & baby today! I guess they are right…babies do make everything more fun :) From heart shaped toast & bacon for breakfast & surprise chalk messages on the sidewalks for people I love (from Hallie of course)…it’s been a really fun day today :) Hope your day has been just as wonderful! Here is a little peek at my smallest valentine :)

I wanted to share another fun fall senior shoot with you all! Parisa was an absolute breeze to photograph…such a natural! I love that when I think back at my shoots I remember our jokes and laughing more than anything. Thanks seniors, thanks for making my job so much fun! Parisa, it was an honor to photograph you & document your senior year…I can’t wait to see the big things you will do!
