Melissa & Travis | Wilmington Ohio Engagement Photography

Friday, May 28th, 2010

Before this photo shoot, Melissa & I had an email relationship.  It was lovely, but of course, I was really excited to finally meet her in person! She’s even cuter and sweeter than I imagined…and that’s saying a lot…I can really get a sense of people in email :) She sent me a message last September and it simply said, “Hi, I would like to talk to you about wedding packages and engagement photos”, then some info on the wedding location. So I emailed back with my information and no more than a few hours later I had this response: “That’s sounds great! Your website sold me lol.”

I knew we would get along great. I love when people know what they want! We continued to email back and forth and had originally planned their engagement shoot in October.  After getting rained out, more than once, we just opted to wait till spring…who doesn’t love spring?! I am so thrilled we waited. There is something so sweet about these photos & I don’t think she could have picked a better time to do them…

Whenever Travis kisses Melissa she ends up on her tip toes…I just couldn’t help but capture that. It’s so sweet. They are getting a canvas wrap of this one and I think it’s the perfect choice!!

I just love the look of this field!

You’d never know it’s just a grassy area next to a parking lot…would you? ;)

Melissa & Travis…I can’t wait for your wedding in September…it’s going to be so wonderful!!

Greg & Kim | Minneapolis Engagement Photography

Wednesday, May 19th, 2010

Just before I left for New Mexico I got an email from Kim wanting to see when we might be able to do engagement pictures.  It just so happened that on my way home I had a layover in Minneapolis…perfect!  We managed to coordinate days and decided that I would just “miss my flight” back home.  Everything worked out perfect…well, except I forgot that just because I would miss my flight, didn’t mean my luggage would too.  After a little repacking before my flight we were good to go!

I had such a great time on our shoot.  Greg & Kim are so perfect for each other and so easy to photograph.  Never hurts when the couple is stunning, has great style…and picks awesome locations.  Some days I really don’t think I can call this a job ;)  I loved to watch them interact, so sweet.  After the shoot they took me to a super yummy lunch and when Greg stepped away from the table Kim said the sweetest things about him.  She said that she was positive that God made him for her and sent him to her at this time in their lives.  I teared up a little…but seriously, since when is that new.

Greg & Kim, Thank you so much for showing me around your town…it’s so beautiful…and so are you two.

They took me to the most wonderful locations!

I had been away from my big black lab for almost a week, so seeing Tank made me feel a little better…he’s soo cute!

And then a little clothing & location change…love these!

Greg first noticed Kim’s legs…can you blame him.  I think most ladies out there would agree that they wish these were their legs.

Finished just before the rain came…see photo on the right.

I am so excited for their wedding in July! Not only that, but this weekend I will be photographing Kim’s brother’s wedding!!

Sam & Beth | Columbus Ohio Engagement Photography

Wednesday, April 14th, 2010

You’ve heard me say it before, and I am going to say it again.  One of my favorite parts of my job (could be the favorite) is that so often my clients become my friends.  It’s as if God put me in this career so that I would meet particular people…because otherwise, how would our paths cross.  Sam & Beth are no exception.  Last year we all sat down to dinner to meet.  Beth was already set on me photographing her wedding, so the actual meeting was more of a dinner.  Before our drinks had even come, we clicked.  I can’t really explain it, but I knew we were meant to be friends.  Beth & I chatted about all things vintage (which is what their wedding will be like!) and Sam & Justin talked about farming.  Justin & Beth talked about musicals and books and Sam and I talked about TV ;)  Everything just clicked.

I couldn’t wait for the engagement shoot just so we would have the chance to hang out again.  We had such a wonderful time at her parents farm (which I am planning on moving in…seriously, it’s so great).  I couldn’t narrow it down a lot, but I tried, so here are a bunch of my favorites.

Love this image Justin caught…so perfect!

Beth, you are so beautiful.

You know I flipped out a little when I saw this old truck…

The image on the left was Sam’s idea! Oh, and the right…this is their driveway, and no, I am not kidding.

You two make me happy.

Because the last “action shot” (and I say that loosely, since I was laying on the ground) was such a big hit…here are a couple more. Sorry for posting this one Justin…it’s all I had :)

And no, I have no idea what I’m standing in.

Beth, I can’t wait for our get-together this Saturday!

*we are going to the Trading Post in Bainbridge (one of my favorite places), and then to Adena’s musical production of Seussical! *if you are looking for something to do this weekend…Seussical the Musical!  I’ll be there every night!  And then I get my husband back ;)

Paige & Dan | Chillicothe Ohio Engagement Photography

Friday, March 26th, 2010

Sweet, sweet Paige. I couldn’t stop smiling when I walked away from our first meeting.  She has one of those smiles that spread around…you can help but be happy around her.  We met up a few months ago and I was so excited that she brought her maid of honor…who I’ve already photographed a few times!  We all sat around and talked about the what will be the cutest hometown wedding with country charm…seriously, it’s gonna be so great!

Paige was set on 2 things for sure for her engagement photos. #1 She wanted to shoot at Adena Mansion & Gardens. #2 There’s gotta be snow :) You know I was all over both of those, especially since I hadn’t even photographed there before (we have 2 weddings there so far this year!).  Like all snow shoots, it took a bit of work to make all our schedules align.  Every time snow was coming into town, I was leaving!  We finally found a date, and frankly, it couldn’t have been a more perfect day.  The setting was amazing and I could shoot there everyday and still have new ideas…love that place!

Not only do I get to photograph Paige & Dan’s wedding, but I will also be photographing the wedding of Dan’s sister, Kim! It’s gonna be a great year :)

Paige & Dan…I can’t wait for your beautiful May wedding!!!

Sidenote: I have a folder on my computer full of photos of Justin & I shooting at sessions & weddings…some are cute, most are unflattering, but a few are pretty funny…

Here is a shot of me photographing the image above…

and yes, I left a little cold

…but I got the shot ;)

Christa & Cory | Columbus Ohio Engagement Photography

Thursday, March 11th, 2010

Christa & Cory love snow.  Christa says that they are both winter babies (both born in February) and she really wanted to have snowy engagement pictures.  We knew we had to have the shoot done to get their save the dates designed, so we scheduled it for just a couple days after Christmas, and crossed our fingers.  Considering we hadn’t had much at the time, I wasn’t going to get my hopes up.  So, you could say I was a little excited when I woke up that day to some pretty great fluffy snow. Just enough for great photos, but not too much to make the roads bad for our trip up to Columbus.  We even had some start to fall at the end of the session, it was perfect.

They are one of the sweetest couples and I am so excited to be apart of their exciting year!  Thanks for a great shoot guys…and for letting me photograph Eva…she’s adorable!

Could this look any more cozy?! I’m thinking no.

Image credit: Justin, oh, and it just happens to be one of my favorites.  Sometimes I get a little jealous ;)

Image credit…you guessed it ;)  Justin.

Love this one:

Christa & Cory, you two are awesome…we had soo much fun on this shoot, and I know that your wedding is going to be even better!  How about you move it from November to…uh, next month? Great!

Angela & Jerry | Columbus Ohio Engagement Photography

Friday, February 26th, 2010

Oh my goodness. I just love these two…um, three.

Meet Angela, Jerry & Winnie.  This cute family lives in Columbus, and we all got together last November to do engagement pictures.  When setting up the shoot, Angela asked if it would be okay for us to start at their house so we could get some photos with their lab. Um, really? If you know me at all, you know this question NEVER needs to be asked.  I would never, ever turn down a shoot with a pup…and with my new love of labs, I was a little more than excited.

Here is are a few of my favorites from their session…

Um. Adorable.

Angela and Jerry are big blue jacket fans…so they wanted to incorporate that into their session.  So not only did they wear their best blue jacket gear, we also shot all around Nationwide Arena.

This is when Angela informed Jerry that she had planned a little surprise for their shoot…

You could say he was excited ;)

Some ice on the ice ;)

Stay tuned for more of this too cute couple.  We just shot their wedding in January!

Snow Shoots…crazy beautiful.

Monday, February 22nd, 2010

Ok, I’m going to interup my consistant posting of shoots to confirm a thought you may have had.  A few of you out there might have thought (in all this wintry bliss), wow, I bet this would be beautiful in photos.  Answer = you are right.

Here are two sneak peaks to show how great this time of year is to schedule your shoots.  Everyone loves the fall leaves, and don’t get my wrong, they are beautiful, I love them too…but honestly, this snow is so amazing!  On, that note, it is metling today.  So if you would like to set up a session to play in the snow for an hour or two, email me and I’ll get you on the list for when the next round comes in!

*Yes, I am secretly hoping we are done…I am completely ready for spring.  It’s beautiful, but it sure is cold.

More of these shoots coming soon ;)

Audrey & Muncie | Washington DC Engagment Photography

Thursday, February 4th, 2010

As a couple, Justin & I have traveled very little.  Other than our trip to TN for our honeymoon, we haven’t been able to take a trip together. Considering how much we both love to travel, we are working to fix this.  So needless to say, when sweet Audrey asked me if we would be willing to fly to Washington, DC, to do their engagement photos, I was nothing short of jumping up and down.  However, I calmly said, yes…we’d love to come. ;) Now that she knows me, I don’t mind admitting that…

Audrey & Muncie are both in law school in DC and wanted to have photos where they currently live.  We were going for a very “DC” look…and darn it, I think we got it.  I am so in love with these photos.  Not only because I really pushed myself to nail it in a city I’ve never “location-scouted,” but also because we left DC with two new friends.  I am beyond thrilled that after school and their wedding they will be moving to Louisville…it will be so much easier to meet up for dinner there. ;)

It’s a long post and I had a comment for almost every photo…but you really don’t want to know how many they have.  Fly me to a cool place, and frankly, your shoot will be slightly more than typical :)

Image credit: Justin….also happens to be one of my favorites :)

A little tribute to their soon-to-be home…

I love this so much I’m having it made into a canvas for my office. It comes tomorrow. :)

Justin did it again, beautifully, I might add:

A quick outfit change and we headed to Georgetown.  It’s one of the cutest towns I’ve every seen…I could photograph there forever!

The image on the left if my absolute favorite. It’s actually my favorite image of 2009. Yep, I went there.

The inspiration for the color palette for my dream house. I am in love.

We finished the day at the wine bar, Enology, where they had their first date.

Audrey & Muncie, thank you for being the couple that you are.  Thank you for bringing me to Washington to photograph this amazing time in your life.  I think it’s obvious that I am honored and I absolutely can’t wait for you wedding!  Is it August yet?

Naomi & David | Columbus Ohio Engagement Photography

Friday, January 22nd, 2010

Sweet young love = Naomi & David.  They’ve really got to be one of the cutest couple’s I’ve met/photographed.  This shoot was actually our first official meeting.  Naomi had seen the photos I had done of sweet Ellie, and she knew she’d like me to photograph her weddding.  So without meeting first, she booked me and we set a date for the engagement shoot at Inniswood Gardens.  Of course, I was so excited when we started the shoot and I could tell how much photos meant to them.

When it comes to the professions of my bride & grooms, at least one of them 80% of the time are in some sort of a design/creative field.  In this instance it’s David.  Not only will you see him again on their wedding post, but more likely than not he’ll be around a bit more.  David is going to be a big part of refining & re-designing our look here at Cassidy Dawn Photography!  We’re not sure when we are going to start the process, but I am so excited to be working with him!

You two are so sweet and I am in love with your photos…mind if I post them everywhere? Great, I think I’ll start here first ;)

*love* this.

I’ve often dreamed of shooting in a field just like this…thanks for making that happen. It turned out better than I imagined ;)

Might be my favorite of the day:

I CANNOT wait for your wedding…it’s going to be such an amazing day.  Thanks for choosing me to be there :)

Emily & Mark | Lexington Kentucky Engagement Photography

Friday, December 18th, 2009

Emily & Mark live in Lexington, Kentucky but their wedding is in Columbus this May (can’t wait for that!).  We decided that it would be great to do their session in the town that they are starting their lives in…so off I went!  I’ve been wanting to shoot there for a while and had quite a few places in mind.  Justin & I would constantly drive around town on the weekends during college looking for cute places.

We chose to have their shoot at Ashland, The Henry Clay Estate and it was the perfect fall day for it.  The leaves were beautiful, weather was great, and Emily & Mark are the best.  Here are a few of my favorites from their shoot!
