Beth & Sam – Wedding Shoot | Columbus Ohio Wedding Photographer

Oh my! Was I excited about this shoot or what? I’ve already expressed how much I love this couple…so I won”t go into that again (even though I want to). On the wedding day, Beth was amazing with dealing with the rainy weather, all her plans were changed, but she handled it with grace. There was one thing getting her a little down, though she didn’t let it show. Although Sam hadn’t seen Beth before the wedding, he knew something would be bothering her. He knew how important the photos at the farm were to her and how disappointed she was even though no one knew it. He pulled me aside and asked if it would be possible to get dressed up again and do a shoot on another day. After tearing up at how sweet he was to even think of that, I excitedly ran up to tell Beth…of course I was game. While no one really knew how sad she was about the thought of missing out on those photos, everyone could definitely see the change when that idea was suggested. She loved it. So did I. And Sam loves Beth.

So we found one rare, cool evening this summer and took some photos. It was wonderful.

*love*

Dear Doug, thank you for hauling these trunks out into the field for your sweet daughter’s wedding photos.  I know they were heavy, but totally worth it. Don’t you agree? ;)

One of my favorite shots of all time. Really, I’m not sure I could love it anymore.

You two are marvelous, thank you for your friendship. Love you both!

Sam & Beth – The Wedding! | Columbus Ohio Wedding Photographer

June 12th was a dream…well, maybe a little stressful dream… :) After I photographed Sam & Beth’s engagement shoot earlier in the year, I was on the edge of my seat for their wedding day. You see, they are some of those clients that don’t just become clients, but friends. Really great friends. I couldn’t wait to see them get married, and I couldn’t wait to see all the plans pulled together. Beth had planned every detail of the day. It was a true reflection of them and it was gorgeous! The timeline of the day was a bit different than typical wedding days. The wedding would be a small ceremony in Columbus for just immediate family in the morning, then in the evening there would be a big party for everyone back at the house Beth grew up in. Well, that’s just how it happened…with one big addition.

Rain. Not just a little rain, a lot of rain.  I do think rain is beautiful and romantic, but it’s not the site you want to see on a wedding day, unless it’s all inside. The ceremony took place in the beautiful gardens at the Kelton House.  They simply pushed back the ceremony with the help of weather radars on phones.  We found a little break, and headed out for the service. It was beautiful…absolutely beautiful!  The reception, however, was a bit of a worry for us.  You see, the tent was in the middle of a large field that had basically flooded between when the tent was put up and the wedding day.  Oh my, was it a mess!  Thankfully we had that break between the ceremony & reception to work on setting everything up…and drying everything off ;)  So after everything was wrapped up at the Kelton House, we all rolled up our pants and headed to the field!  With thanks to their amazing families & friends everything came together beautifully…here are a few of my favorites from the day!

Their sweet, intimate ceremony.

Her bouquet was so beautiful!

Details, details, details! I loved every single one of them!! Just the right mix of vintage & my favorite color…I was in heaven!!

*Loved* this shot of her grandma!! Calls were made before the reception to tell folks to bring appropriate footwear…it was crazy out there!!

One of my favorite shots of the day. It says so much, I just love it :)

Look closely…you can see the firefly…

Justin took this at 11pm in June…amazing isn’t it. If you look very closely, you can see the fireflies!  (ISO 800, 24 2.8, 30.0)

The fireworks were a surprise for Sam from Doug (Beth’s dad). Loved them!!

The rain threw everything off, so our photos didn’t happen quite like we had planned. We took a few at the Kelton House, but couldn’t do much before her dress would be ruined…so, finally one of my dreams came true…a post wedding shoot!! We planned the shoot for a nice cool, dry evening (unlike the wedding day), with the perfect light!  I’ll be sharing those next!!

Oh, and just so you know I’m serious. Here’s how my feet looked for the reception…thanks for the flip flops Roxanne ;)
