Sneak Peak & Updates…

Monday, November 30th, 2009

I know, I know. It’s been a little quite on this blog…so you can only imagine how busy it’s been around here! I’m hanging on though, I promise!  I actually have so much to show you I don’t even know where to start.  From sessions, to weddings, to albums to new products…we’ll have lots of posts to bring us into the holiday season.

Very Important!  All orders that you would like before Christmas must be ordered by December 1st.  No exceptions.  (sorry, I know that sounds harsh, but if I let you, then what about the others…).  So please, if you are planning on giving any photos for Christmas, or would just like them on your walls before the holiday, it must be ordered by tomorrow!!!  I can’t guarantee anything after that.

**Keep in mind that print orders are taking longer at this time.  If you have placed your order or are planning to, please know, I have seen it…there are just a lot of them…I promise to get them to you as soon as I can :)

And to lighten this post, here is a little sneak peak of what’s coming to the blog tomorrow!  Not all weddings are sunny & 70 degrees…but that doesn’t mean they aren’t perfect…

Have a wonderful Monday, and I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!!!

Sharp Family | Bardstown Kentucky

Monday, November 23rd, 2009

To finish up my stay in Bardstown, I met up with the Sharp family…actually our session was right before the Nelsons!  There was a big storm coming in, so we did the sessions in a short amount of time a bit earlier than we had planned (I just got them out of order!).  Just moments after we finished with the Nelson’s shoot, the sprinkles came, then I wasn’t but a minute down the road and it was pouring.  I mean ‘I had to pull my car on the side of the road pouring.  I am soo glad we weren’t still roaming around the field when that came, It would have happened right in the middle of this shoot!  I had a great time photographing this ridiculously-good-looking family…oh my, my clients make my job easy!

You wouldn’t know the storm was coming…just check out this light!

Note to clients: I am working feverishly to finish up all sessions that have been photographed before today so that you will have time to order photos before the Christmas deadline…so if you’re session isn’t up yet, it should be soon.  Thanks for your patience!  Oh, and the Christmas deadline is: December 1st!!!

Nelson Family | Bardstown Kentucky

Friday, November 20th, 2009

Continuing with my Kentucky trip in September, we now have the Nelson Family!

I was probably a little too excited for this shoot, and not for the obvious reasons…you know, 3 adorable kids, attractive parents, amazing location.  Those were all very exciting, however, something else about this shoot was extra special for me.  If you’ve followed my blog, or twitter, or facebook for anytime now, you would know about our puppy situation (here and here and here).  Well, remember Violet…her name is now Samantha and she has a wonderful home with 3 very active kids to play with!  *I also was able to see Pinky (Lucy) on this trip, she is owned by my good friends the Spaldings and happen to live next door to Samantha!  Doesn’t she look so happy with her family…makes me smile soo big :)

*keep in mind, this was Sept…I’m sure she’s changed a lot by now (if you have seen pictures of Sayid recently, you’d see the difference!)

How adorable is this?!

Wheatley Family | Bardstown Kentucky

Wednesday, November 18th, 2009

Oh my, oh my…I’m backed up on blogging.   However, there is a good thing about that, I have lots to share into the winter months!!

Back in late September, I took a few days and went to Bardstown, Kentucky to photograph at the local Montessori school (same as last year)…well, this year I was lucky enough to shoot 3 amazing families too!  First up is the Wheatley Family.  Nicole had asked me to photograph her family last year after I visited and photographed at the school.  So I had been looking forward to this for quite a while.  They are as sweet as can be, and I am so happy they asked me to record a little of this time in their lives…such an honor.

Here are just a couple of my favorites!

Happy Birthday Laynie!!!

Tuesday, November 17th, 2009

I am so excited to announce that Miss Laynie Paige Ash made her way into this world today..and she’s as cute as can be :)

I got a call from Richard today and proceeded to freak out and stop all work…as soon as Justin got home, we were off to Columbus to meet her.  She is so perfect, and I promise to post pictures soon; however, I think it’s only fair for her big sister Sophie to see her before all of my wonderful blog readers (I am sure you will understand :)

I actually wanted to post these pictures this morning, but decided I shouldn’t.  When I posted Heidi’s maternity photos online, she had her sweet baby girl that day…and Laynie wasn’t due until Dec 13, so I didn’t want to speed that up.  Well, it didn’t matter my intentions…she was ready ;) Hayley & I had a quick impromtu photo shoot one night at her house, she didn’t think she would make it to our planned date (and she was right).  I haven’t gone through all the pictures, but here are a couple that stuck out.

I love this photo so much.

Katie & Eddie – The Wedding! | Chillicothe Ohio Wedding Photography

Thursday, November 12th, 2009

September 19 was the epitome of a perfect fall wedding day. Honest.  Did it help that the day was full of the most kindhearted people, a gorgeous bride & groom, special details everywhere you looked, or a ceremony under one of the largest trees this side of the country? Maybe.  All I know is that I will remember that day as one of my favorite days of the year.

I’ll admit, I knew a little what I was getting into that day.  During their engagement shoot in late April, Katie causally mentioned some of the details that she had planned…frankly, I had no idea how beautifully it would come together.  I am sure she went through a magazine or two with her mother, but everything just “said” Katie & Eddie.  Oh, did I mention that Katie’s mom wins “mother-of-the-bride-of-the-year”?  She single handily made more details for the day than many weddings combined…and every single one was stunning.

I’ll try to wrap it up because I seem to have pulled more images than ever for this post, however I do need to say one more thing.  Katie & Eddie, thank you from the very bottom of my toes to the top of my noggin for choosing me to be the photographer to document this amazing day.  It means so much to me that you would allow me to share in such a wonderful moment in your lives and I hope that you will cherish these images.  Your wedding was stunning, that’s all I can say.

I can’t describe how much I am in love with her dress.  Perfect mix of a little vintage & sophistication.

Preparations were done at the Greenhouse Bed & Breakfast in Chillicothe.  It was so great for them to all have space away from the ceremony location (bride’s house), and what a beautiful setting for getting ready!

You know how I love a good private moment :)

Seriously, I forget the facts, but it really is one of the largest trees around…maybe one of Katie’s family members could leave a little fact about it in the comments. (Edited to Add:  Justin told me that they said it was the 3rd largest White Oak in Ohio.)

I just had to share one of my new favorite images of all time.  Really.

It combines so many things I love.  Great light, beautiful wedding attire, a little shout out to the best state ever, and of course…an adorable dog. Yep, expect this to be front and center when I finally update the website ;)

er, are….

Audrey Haydon & Whitney Scully!!!

Congrats ladies!  Contact me soon and let me know which photo you’d like…however in this case, I haven’t posted Whitney’s session & I haven’t photographed Audrey yet (this weekend in DC), so you can hold off till they are posted.

I decided to draw 2 names for 2 reasons.

1. I avoided the drawing because I didn’t feel like making a video (then didn’t)…

2. I was overwhelmed by the amount of entries…you all know how to make a girl feel special :)

Sorry for the short post, I have more to do in the next 2 weeks than I can even describe…got to get back to work.

Here are a few of my favorite Polaroids from the weekend!

*for those that asked, my new camera is a Polaroid 600se (the only professional Polaroid ever made…it’s fabulous and I love it so much!).  I bought it more for personal projects & photos, however, I don’t know how I will resist bringing it to a shoot or two ;)polaroid 600se

I love this photo more than you could ever know. I love my boys :)

Thursday, November 5th, 2009

First off CONGRATULATIONS to the Sharp & Allsop families! Nathan & Heidi Sharp had their little baby girl, Emmalyn Georgia, at 10:47pm on November 3rd!  Then our good friends Erin & Erik (& Malachi) had their newest addition arrive soon after at 3:37 am on November 4th!  Welcome, Elliott Bruce, we can’t wait to meet you too!  And yes, I am already planning on photographing their wedding ;)

Up next, Holiday Deadlines!  This year our Holiday Deadlines will be December 4th.  Any and all prints must be ordered by December 4th in order to receive them in time for Christmas…so start thinking about your orders now!

Travel!  Lots of travel is coming up for us, so please be patient with us…I promise I am not ignoring your emails or not proofing your photos on purpose ;) All sessions will be proofed within the time on the contract…and yes, if you have had a session with us, it will be up before the Holiday deadline…I’m proofing like a crazy lady, I promise :)

Lastly…don’t forget about the contest!!! The drawing will be tomorrow at 10pm…so don’t forget to enter!

Oh, and because I have to post a photo, here is a recent favorite of our cute little cottage…cottage600p

A little note: I recently purchased my dream camera, and frankly, I’ve become a bit obsessed with it…so be prepared to see many more of these fantastic old Polaroids in the future :)
