Snowed in! or…out…
Yep, it’s true, we are snowed in our little paradise…but we can’t complain, we never lost power – just internet, but I am back for now…until it goes out again :)
It really is beautiful and we are loving it. Justin has been out of school 3 days (and now tomorrow), and we have just been keeping warm in our little hide-away. It’s so pretty here. We are actually stuck here. The driveway was cleared today, so I think a substantial vehicle will do alright, but ours aren’t going anywhere. That’s ok though, we’re cozy!
I do have a pretty fun story though. Of course when we get weather like this, it is a given that I am going to go out and photograph…try and stop me! So yesterday around 2:30 (just when the sky was a pretty blue) I headed out to take some photos. Justin followed and slammed the door shut…normally this wouldn’t be an issue…if our door didn’t automatically lock, or if either of us had keys or a cell phone…but it was an issue.
If you have been following the blog at all you know that I brag about the fact that I live in one of the most amazing places ever. Well, one of those great aspects…we see nature, everywhere…no houses. Yep, you guessed it, we don’t have very close neighbors.
So off we went. I’ll keep the details short, but basically it was 3:30 before we arrived at a house that we could call from…now, it’s not that far, but I didn’t have on snow/ice appropriate footwear, and we had to go to a few different houses. Luckily we ended up at the Lloyd’s house (well, Byron’s mother Jane’s house…that’s where they were). You may remember the Lloyd’s from my recent photo shoot with them. The truly are the very best neighbors (although we aren’t right next door) and we are blessed to live close to them. Jane, Bryon, Molly, Erin & Malachi – Thanks for letting us visit with you!
My parent’s went on a key run and showed up to drive us back (well, to the end of the driveway) and put us back where we belong. We were warming up by the fire around 4:30. It may have bothered some people, or me on a bad day, but honestly, we had a great time and the best part…I took pictures in places I wouldn’t normally! So all in all, it was a great day!
Here are photos from yesterday & today.

I love this portrait of our house:

This was one of the good things about having to walk. I have starred at the woodpile every time I drive by it, always wanting a photo…well, I got my photo. *notice the color gradation…love it.

Favorite shot of the day.

On our way to find help…

I was cleaning off the car, and thought this was a good illustration of what we got. There is what I call, crunchy slush (2 inches), then an inch of ice…then 3 inches of snow….and I hear there is more on the way…
Ok, I have a million things to do, so I better get busy. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!

Hmm… It just doesn’t look that dreamy in a subdivision…

Hey! I loved this post! That is one of my favorite spots in the world. When we were younger, Luke and I used to ride our bikes from bainbridge to cove run and go all the way back to paugh road. It was my favorite place ever. I never got to go there in the winter because it was bad out, so seeing these were nice.

Even though is pretty here, its in town, so with the beautiful ice we also have nasty brown slush. Your pictures make me miss home (and you) like woah.

Why am I NOT surprised that you guys locked yourself out of the house in your hurry to get out into the snowy wonderland? The pictures are gorgeous!!! Again, more fodder for the art page, Crassidy?
Oh well, life wouldn’t be interesting without adventures. stay warm and dry.

Cassidy,
These pictures are GORGEOUS! I love the one of the horse. Glad you found a warm, hospitable home on ole’ Falls Rd. Next time, you need to feign starvation and get a free meal out of it!

We’re so glad you guys found us at Grandma’s house! We had a lot of fun visiting…spending quality time with family and friends is definitely the best part of being snowed in!
