A couple more.  Sorry if my photo posts are getting old…it’s what I am looking at, so I thought it is what you should look at too :)

We tried to leave today to go to the grocery & post office.  We were unsuccessful.  Justin & my dad are heading out for an overnight at a church tonight, so I am having a sleepover with my mom.

I promise to ease up on my winter photos…

oops, I just said that and now I have to run outside…you should see what the sun is doing through the ice…but knowing me, you will :)  Gotta grab my camera!  Bye for now!

Snowed in! or…out…

Friday, January 30th, 2009

Yep, it’s true, we are snowed in our little paradise…but we can’t complain, we never lost power – just internet, but I am back for now…until it goes out again :)

It really is beautiful and we are loving it.  Justin has been out of school 3 days (and now tomorrow), and we have just been keeping warm in our little hide-away.  It’s so pretty here.  We are actually stuck here.  The driveway was cleared today, so I think a substantial vehicle will do alright, but ours aren’t going anywhere.  That’s ok though, we’re cozy!

I do have a pretty fun story though.  Of course when we get weather like this, it is a given that I am going to go out and photograph…try and stop me!  So yesterday around 2:30 (just when the sky was a pretty blue) I headed out to take some photos.  Justin followed and slammed the door shut…normally this wouldn’t be an issue…if our door didn’t automatically lock, or if either of us had keys or a cell phone…but it was an issue.

If you have been following the blog at all you know that I brag about the fact that I live in one of the most amazing places ever.  Well, one of those great aspects…we see nature, everywhere…no houses.  Yep, you guessed it, we don’t have very close neighbors.

So off we went. I’ll keep the details short, but basically it was 3:30 before we arrived at a house that we could call from…now, it’s not that far, but I didn’t have on snow/ice appropriate footwear, and we had to go to a few different houses.  Luckily we ended up at the Lloyd’s house (well, Byron’s mother Jane’s house…that’s where they were).  You may remember the Lloyd’s from my recent photo shoot with them.  The truly are the very best neighbors (although we aren’t right next door) and we are blessed to live close to them.  Jane, Bryon, Molly, Erin & Malachi – Thanks for letting us visit with you!

My parent’s went on a key run and showed up to drive us back (well, to the end of the driveway) and put us back where we belong.  We were warming up by the fire around 4:30.  It may have bothered some people, or me on a bad day, but honestly, we had a great time and the best part…I took pictures in places I wouldn’t normally!  So all in all, it was a great day!

Here are photos from yesterday & today.

I love this portrait of our house:

This was one of the good things about having to walk.  I have starred at the woodpile every time I drive by it, always wanting a photo…well, I got my photo.  *notice the color gradation…love it.

On our way to find help…

I was cleaning off the car, and thought this was a good illustration of what we got.  There is what I call, crunchy slush (2 inches), then an inch of ice…then 3 inches of snow….and I hear there is more on the way… img_3051

Ok, I have a million things to do, so I better get busy.  Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!

I haven’t posted for a while now.  I am sorry.

Since I feel bad for my lack of posting, I thought I would share a photo of my new haircut!  Justin & I finally got haircuts last night (we were both long over due).  I am happy to be blonde again, and yes, I did just say that.

Thank you Hayley!  You’re the best!  I can’t wait for our date!

Lloyd Family

Monday, January 19th, 2009

So, my plans changed a bit…instead of leaving yesterday, I am leaving this afternoon for KY, but I’ll still be back on Wednesday.  Since I am here I thought I would share some images from one of my very favorite recent shoots!

Sweet, sweet Erin had been trying to coordinate a family photoshoot for months, and I mean months.  Imagine how hard it is to work with so many adult schedules (with half of them living out of town…and one out of state!).  We had picked a few dates and they kept falling through, but Erin wasn’t going to give up – I love that about her!  I am so glad she didn’t either, because we finally found a day (with great weather, I might add).

This family is one of the sweetest families out there and I was honored to document them!  I tried to narrow down my favorites, but gave up.  So, I am posting quite a few…deal with it :) 004

And because I love them, I thought I would post a few of the things that this family is involved in.

The Lloyd Company (of course!)

Erin is the owner of The Cake Kitchen (I’ve bragged about her numerous times)

The Bell Tower Mission (a wonderful place to hold an event…oh, and the food…wow!)

Ok, I’m off to Kentucky to take photos of lots of amazing kids!!!  Be back soon!

Off to KY!

Sunday, January 18th, 2009

Just wanted to post a quick note to let you know that I will be out of town for a few days.  I’m heading to Louisville today to visit with my amazing roommate from college (she lives in Naples, Fl and is up here!) and then I will be in Bardstown for a photo shoot or two!  I’ll be back on Wednesday!

Oh, and my little ol’ blog was hit with some serious spam over the night and, 20 or so of your wonderful comments were deleted.  My little heart is a little broken.  So if you see yours is missing, feel free to leave it again.  It would make me smile.  :)

oh my, sooo cold!

Friday, January 16th, 2009

I can’t even see out our windows!  Check out this ice!

It’s pretty, but oh so cold!  I’m really looking forward to when it starts melting…all over the floors…
