come on, it’s just an hour!

Thursday, March 27th, 2008

This Saturday, March 29th, from 8pm to 9pm is Earth Hour 2008- businesses and homes all around the world will turn off their lights and non-essential electrical appliances to promote electricity conservation. Last year, Earth Hour Sydney is estimated to have cut Sydney’s mains electricity consumption by between 2.1% and 10.2% for that hour, with as many as 2.2 million people taking part.
I’ll be taking part, will you?

*Thanks to Laura for the info!

I’m on Wedding Wire!

Thursday, March 27th, 2008

Cassidy Dawn Photography is now on Wedding Wire. Weddingwire.com is a great way for brides to find local vendors and read reviews. It seems to have a tendancy to have many more photographers than others, and to be honest, there aren’t many vendors near the Chillicothe area…but I have sent the word out to a few of my favorite vendors, so maybe we will see a few of them soon!

The wedding tools are great resources for brides, and could be very, very helpful. They have free wedding websites, a drag and drop seating file (a great item!), a budget, and my favorite of all…a timeline organizer!!! Timelines can get overlooked, but they really are one of the *most important* things to plan for the day! I think the website will soon become quite popular (from what I understand, they’ve teamed up with Martha Stewart!)
Anyway, be sure to check it out, and if you are one of my fabulous brides (or grooms!!!), feel free to leave a review! Thanks!

meg.

Monday, March 24th, 2008

Prepare yourself for a photo filled post. Meg, one of my best friends in the entire world (she is actually how Justin and I met), called me up asking for a headshot, she just needed one picture. Oh please. I decided to fully take advantage of the situation. I had just gotten two fabulous new lenses and was dying to try them out. Even better, Meg lives in Cleveland. I had been wanting to do a shoot in an edgier (word?) city than Chillicothe (surprise, I was pretty naive about some of my location choices :). I knew she would be up for anything, so we went. We had a blast, but that was a given, even better – I am in love with the photos. It may seem as though I didn’t narrow anything down when deciding what to show, but keep in mind that we have 44 photos. So here are a lot of my favs from this too fun shoot. Thanks Meg, for always being up for anything. Can’t wait to see you again!

this one is so meg, i love it.serious, with a bit of texturei think it is time to make a cd?

i love alleys filled with awesome light!
i love this laugh, i am sure she is making fun of me (i probably just fell, or something equally embarrassing), but the picture’s cute!
Have a happy Monday!

edited to add: I’ve had a couple requests to see more. If you want to see Meg’s gallery, just click ‘view proofs’ on the sidebar and click ‘megalexander’. Thanks for the sweet comments!

happy spring!

Friday, March 21st, 2008

Happy first day of spring! It’s about time, right? Today, Dad and I took a trip…let me rephrase that, a bumpy trip to Bardstown, KY. I needed to make a trip down there, and Dad offered to fly me to avoid the long drive. It took a bit longer than we had expected (lots of wind), but we made it safe and sound. We had a good time, and I took a few pictures, so here is a peek:

check out that wind!

Happy spring from little ole’ Bainbridge!

for a smile.

old maysville

Tuesday, March 11th, 2008

When I was processing my images, the following really stuck out to me as older photographs. I love the results.

the cox building:
market street, with the cox building:
I love chandler’s, it is my favorite restaurant in town. I know it is not ‘old’ to maysville, but i love the look:I think the top of this theater is often overlooked:

Not only did we get snow, but the water is so high..I wish I had a before picture. These steps actually lead to a really large walkway on the other side. Crazy!

We were so glad we weren’t in this alley when all this snow fell:
I just liked this one:Sorry for the randomness (this was actually a test post, I’m having some trouble with uploading).

how cool!

Our wedding was featured on the Wedding Party blog! Wedding Party is a great source for brides and they have a great website with ideas and inspiration.
The post was actually on Feb 11th, but even still, I’m pretty excited!

how fun!

my favorite tree

Sunday, March 9th, 2008

this tree reminds me of:
home
mom taking my picture with the wildflowers
swinging with my sisters on our tiny white swing

seeing it as a monster at night (hayley)

yard sales, so many yard sales

staring into the branches on summer days

reading, yes reading my summer book

picking up walnuts for money for the festival
…trying to make more fall

playing any games we could think of…or make up

a car crash on homecoming night

my wedding day

i love that tree.

#68 check…sort of.

Sunday, March 9th, 2008

Yep, another one checked!
Although, I am not going to mark it off yet, there are still a few more I am holding out for, I was beyond thrilled when I friend of mine decided to sell a couple lenses! They were exactly what I had my eye on, and I am over the moon in love with them.

So I am proud to announce that I am the new owner of the wonderful
Canon 24-70mm 2.8
Canon 85mm 1.8

I’ve been fortunate enough to use the 24-70 for quite a while, but was blown away once I was able to use with the 85. Love it!

Here is a portrait of Justin with the 85mm:We took another photo walk today, but you’ll have to check back later for the photos :)
I have a special, ‘Old Maysville’ post coming…

*and yes, I got a haircut, and it is much cuter when not stuffed under a hat…it’s nice and short and curly!
