Audrey & Muncie | Washington DC Engagment Photography

February 4th, 2010

As a couple, Justin & I have traveled very little.  Other than our trip to TN for our honeymoon, we haven’t been able to take a trip together. Considering how much we both love to travel, we are working to fix this.  So needless to say, when sweet Audrey asked me if we would be willing to fly to Washington, DC, to do their engagement photos, I was nothing short of jumping up and down.  However, I calmly said, yes…we’d love to come. ;) Now that she knows me, I don’t mind admitting that…

Audrey & Muncie are both in law school in DC and wanted to have photos where they currently live.  We were going for a very “DC” look…and darn it, I think we got it.  I am so in love with these photos.  Not only because I really pushed myself to nail it in a city I’ve never “location-scouted,” but also because we left DC with two new friends.  I am beyond thrilled that after school and their wedding they will be moving to Louisville…it will be so much easier to meet up for dinner there. ;)

It’s a long post and I had a comment for almost every photo…but you really don’t want to know how many they have.  Fly me to a cool place, and frankly, your shoot will be slightly more than typical :)

Image credit: Justin….also happens to be one of my favorites :)

A little tribute to their soon-to-be home…

I love this so much I’m having it made into a canvas for my office. It comes tomorrow. :)

Justin did it again, beautifully, I might add:

A quick outfit change and we headed to Georgetown.  It’s one of the cutest towns I’ve every seen…I could photograph there forever!

The image on the left if my absolute favorite. It’s actually my favorite image of 2009. Yep, I went there.

The inspiration for the color palette for my dream house. I am in love.

We finished the day at the wine bar, Enology, where they had their first date.

Audrey & Muncie, thank you for being the couple that you are.  Thank you for bringing me to Washington to photograph this amazing time in your life.  I think it’s obvious that I am honored and I absolutely can’t wait for you wedding!  Is it August yet?

Megan, Steve & Cade | Chillicothe Ohio Family Photography

January 28th, 2010

My job is centered around love, and I realize not many people can say that.  The purpose in what I do is to document the love people have for one another.  Whether that be a family, newborns, wedding days…it’s all centered around people that want to document their relationships.  A perk that comes along with this job is that I have made the most amazing friends from my clients.  I typically leave a wedding feeling like I’ve known the bride & groom (and usually the entire wedding party & families) for years.  I am in awe that I get to watch kids grow up…maternity shoots, newborn shoots, 6 month shoots, 1 year shoots…it’s amazing to watch them grown and become the amazing people they are.  Megan Steve & Cade are no exception, they are as sweet & kindhearted as one can be.  Megan and I have been emailing back and forth since before her shoot…we even are having lunch just to catch up!  The best part…I have been asked to document these first amazing years of Cade’s life (and hopefully many more to come…I better do those senior pictures Megan ;)  We already have a date planned for Cade for his birthday shoot in October.

Obviously I am feeling very grateful today ;)

Thank you to all my amazing clients.  Thank you for not only allowing me to photograph your lives, but to become your friend.  It’s an honor.

**love** this photo…so much.

What are you thankful for today?

Naomi & David | Columbus Ohio Engagement Photography

January 22nd, 2010

Sweet young love = Naomi & David.  They’ve really got to be one of the cutest couple’s I’ve met/photographed.  This shoot was actually our first official meeting.  Naomi had seen the photos I had done of sweet Ellie, and she knew she’d like me to photograph her weddding.  So without meeting first, she booked me and we set a date for the engagement shoot at Inniswood Gardens.  Of course, I was so excited when we started the shoot and I could tell how much photos meant to them.

When it comes to the professions of my bride & grooms, at least one of them 80% of the time are in some sort of a design/creative field.  In this instance it’s David.  Not only will you see him again on their wedding post, but more likely than not he’ll be around a bit more.  David is going to be a big part of refining & re-designing our look here at Cassidy Dawn Photography!  We’re not sure when we are going to start the process, but I am so excited to be working with him!

You two are so sweet and I am in love with your photos…mind if I post them everywhere? Great, I think I’ll start here first ;)

*love* this.

I’ve often dreamed of shooting in a field just like this…thanks for making that happen. It turned out better than I imagined ;)

Might be my favorite of the day:

I CANNOT wait for your wedding…it’s going to be such an amazing day.  Thanks for choosing me to be there :)

The Reed Family – Year 2 with CDP | Ohio Family Photography

January 20th, 2010

Remember this too cute family…The Reed Family?  So adorable right?  Well, the thing is, they’ve gotten even more good looking. Seriously…4 boys, you’d think it might be a little challenging of a shoot.  The truth is, this is the easiest family I’ve ever photographed; they get the award.  Every shoot I walk away thinking, geesh, those boys are so well behaved!  All so polite, and it doesn’t hurt that they are all so photogenic ;)

Jayme & Todd values photographs and it’s important for them to document her changing family, and this is why we did another shoot this year (last year we photographed in the summer).  Not only am I thrilled that they want to keep a record of their family growing, but I am honored that they has chosen me to photograph them.  It’s important to find your family photographer, and if I happen to be it…well, let’s just say, I’m grateful.

They had hoped to catch the beautiful fall leaves, but unfortunately when we had the chance to get together most of the leaves were gone.  To get that great golden look, we just photographed right as the sun was going down…I just loved the light!

Emily & Brandon – The Wedding | Ohio Wedding Photography

January 15th, 2010

Back in warm sunny July (can you tell, I am ready for spring ;), I photographed Jessica & Tom’s stunning wedding…remember them? Yep, the too cute couple with tons of style.  Shortly after their wedding I received an email from Emily (one of the awesome bridesmaids).  She was interested in me photographing her wedding…in October.  Needless to say that when I realized I didn’t have a wedding already booked that day, I was thrilled!  We had such a great time at Jess & Tom’s wedding, that I knew Emily’s would be just as great.

October 31 was a beautiful fall day, and for me it was filled with the most beautiful, sweet people one could know.  Both Emily & Brandon are blessed with the most kind and generous families and it was an honor to spend such an important day with them.  I knew the day would be stunning, but I really was overwhelmed by the details & styles that Emily carefully planned throughout the day.  Just perfect.  Her shoes, perfect. Her dress, perfect. Her hair, yep, perfect.  She truly was a beautiful bride!

Emily & Brandon, thank you from the bottom of my heart for allowing me to witness the beginning of your lives together.  It was such a beautiful day.

I can’t even begin to tell you how much I loved her bouquet. Seriously, it’s one of my favorites I’ve seen all year. Beautiful work!

Doesn’t this photo make you want to go hug your Grandma? Love it.

The church was so stunning. The photo doesn’t even do it justice.

Image credit (below): Justin…seriously, sometimes I get a little jealous! He rocks.

Some people might find it strange when I am photographing at a beautiful mansion with perfectly landscaped areas and I point to the shed doors.  Not Emily, she totally understood, and I love her for that.

I had to show this photo so you could see how creative she is.  The reception area was so large, and you can only do so much with that much space…just look at what she created.  Stunning!

Of course I had to sneak a photo of sweet Jessica & Tom…you two are so great, thanks for being wonderful :)

Ah, such a perfect day.  I can’t wait for all the amazing weddings in 2010!  First one: tomorrow!!!

January 14th, 2010

I’m back! It’s been a while since I’ve been able to settle down at my desk and work…and it feels so good :) I love that I have a job that I miss when I’ve been gone!  While my office is still barely an office right now, it’s feels good regardless.  Imagining USA (photography conference) was so wonderful.  I met some great photographers, learned so many things & was able to see so many great new products that will soon be offerings here at CDP…yay!  Some changes will take place over time, and some immediately. On that note, all pricing will be changing over the next few days for 2010.  Print pricing on the ordering site will change early next week, and session/wedding fees have already changed.  This is something that happens every year, just a bit behind because of all the events that 2010 has brought in.  So in order to take advantage of the current print/product pricing, but sure to place your orders in the next day or two!

Now for some photos!  Here are a few of my favorites from a too cute family session back in October.  I photographed Stephanie’s sister’s wedding back in May and I was so excited to see them all again.  Aren’t they the sweetest?!

Look at the red trees we found…don’t you just love fall :)

Joe – Senior 2010! | Chillicothe Ohio Senior Photography

January 4th, 2010

First off I want to say, Happy 2010!!!  It’s gonna be an amazing year for Cassidy Dawn Photography and we are soo happy it’s here!  We’ve are currently halfway booked for weddings for the year, and lots & lots of inquires rolling in from the holidays, so be sure to email soon about your date before it’s gone!  We also have quite a few requests for fall photos…so if you were hoping to have a fall session, please let me know so I can get you on the list…if this year is anything like last year, the dates will go fast!

I’ve been missing on here lately (I warned you ;), but that’s only because of everything we have going on!  Not only was Christmas perfect (like always), I had the best New Year yet!  Actually, I kept forgetting that it was New Year’s Eve & Day…to me, it was moving day :)  We are thrilled to finally be living in our too cute little house and happy to be homeowners. Not to mention we finally have both pets under our roof…it’s too cold for my baby to be living outside ;) Thomas & Sayid are…um, co-existing…but I am sure they will soon become great friends…or at least acquaintances ;)  Oh, and thanks to all our family & friends that helped us move.  I was in awe all day at the love that was shown by them.  Not only did we have people helping us move everything we own (which is too much ;), but we had neighbors stopping by to welcome us (we go to church with most of our neighbors!), our friends/neighbors even fixed lunch for all our helpers (a yummy fish fry!).  I am telling you, I don’t think we could be in a better place.  Loving every minute of it :)

Okay, now onto what you really want to see…pictures! Right in the middle of fall this year I got to photograph Joe.  I’ve known Joe for a couple years now, and knew we would have a great time.  He’s crazy talented and he picked some amazing spots for our shoot.  Joe, you’re pretty great.  That’s all I have to say :)

My favorite!!  I’ve actually been wanting to shoot in a field like this for a while…thanks Joe :)

We had to sneak in a few of Cydney…she’s actually gone on a few shoots with me to help with the reflector.  She’s pretty great too.

Don’t forget, I’m leaving on Thursday for Nashville for a photo conference…so it will be boring on here again, but I am sure I’ll sneak on a time or two with updates.  I’m still posting shoots from October, so you can imagine how much I still have to show you!

Happy Christmas Adam!!

December 23rd, 2009

Christmas Adam* is a tradition in my family.  Since we have all gone off and got married, Christmas Adam is when all eight of us get together.  This year it’s been postponed since Whitney & Damon can’t come until tomorrow, but we’ll all get together at one point!  I won’t be blogging for a few days, so Merry Christmas, too! :)

*Adam comes before Eve…get it? ;)

As you can probably tell, the business is booming, actually it’s booming a lot more than I expected.  The year has been filled with the most amazing weddings, cutest kids, talented seniors and some of the sweetest families I know.  To everyone, thank you so much for supporting & believing in me this year.  Whether you asked me to photograph your wedding, or had me document your family, sent me encouraging emails, or simply read my blog, thank you.  Without you I wouldn’t be able to march into 2010 with the dreamiest life I could imagine.  Thank you for allowing me to live this amazing life.

I’ve been playing a bit of catch up the last month or so, and our Christmas cards did happen to get put on the back burner.  I intended to send out sweet little new year cards…well, we are moving on the 31st, so needless to say, that’s not going to happen.  Please consider this your Christmas card for 2009…I know you can’t hang it on the door, but I hope it still puts a smile on your face.

We love you all, thank you for being our friends.

Love, Cassidy, Justin, Thomas & Sayid

*note: Cassidy Dawn Photography will be on a little break from December 24 to January 14.  I do have a couple days to check in and return emails during that time, however, I will not have internet during most of this time.  We will be moving on the 31st (and won’t have internet hooked up for a few days), then Jan 7-13 I will be in Nashville, Tennessee for a Photography Conference.  I promise to return emails & phone calls whenever possible.  Please be patient :)

*inquring brides, you will have first priority. 2010 is booking fast (we are over halfway booked for the year), so if you are hoping to have us photograph your wedding…please email soon!

Julianne 2010 | Lexington Kentucky Senior Photography

December 21st, 2009

I honestly don’t even know where to start.  If I could dream up the perfect shoot…this would be it.  Hands down.  We photographed in my idea of *perfect* locations, we had amazing light…and the subject…wow.  Julianne is stunning and there is no other way to put it.  Not only is she model material, her heart is pure gold.  She’s one of the sweetest, most poised teenagers I know, and I am absolutely honored that she choose me to photograph her senior pictures.  I love when seniors want something a bit different than what everyone else is doing…that’s why Julianne & her mom asked me to come down to Kentucky to do her pictures!  I’ve known the family for a few years now and I love any chance that I get to see them again.  Julianne’s dad is a professor at Asbury and Allison (my roommate/best friend/other sister) would go to their house to watch Project Runway & Alias with Julianne’s mom when we where in college (loved those days!).

Julianne is one of those girls you look at and say, “Good gracious, she’s got it together.”  Not only is she blindly stunning, but she accomplished in running & the violin.  Oh, and don’t even get me started on her artistic talent (she has no idea how good she is).  She is also an amazing big sister to three of the cutest siblings you’ll ever meet.  Julianne, not only am I honored to photograph you, but frankly, I am honored to know you.  I am so excited for your future…you’ve got so many exciting things coming!

We started this shoot in downtown Lexington, then headed back to Wilmore to go to High Bridge for the rest of the shoot.  I promise I narrowed it down as much as I could…you don’t want to know how many she has ;)  This is as good as I could get it, so sit back and enjoy a few (ahem, a lot) of my favorites from her shoot!

Emily & Mark | Lexington Kentucky Engagement Photography

December 18th, 2009

Emily & Mark live in Lexington, Kentucky but their wedding is in Columbus this May (can’t wait for that!).  We decided that it would be great to do their session in the town that they are starting their lives in…so off I went!  I’ve been wanting to shoot there for a while and had quite a few places in mind.  Justin & I would constantly drive around town on the weekends during college looking for cute places.

We chose to have their shoot at Ashland, The Henry Clay Estate and it was the perfect fall day for it.  The leaves were beautiful, weather was great, and Emily & Mark are the best.  Here are a few of my favorites from their shoot!
